Never, but have had many friends go. Weather is sketchy coming from the West Coast in the spring...
Had a good friend ship his Harley over from Australia to go......Bike got hung up in customs...He was a day late in leaving.....Just caught up to the group and clutch went south.....Got it fixed, caught up again and charging system went..........Finished in the chase truck.....Not my idea of a good time for sure.....

I met a Medal of Honor recipient last month in San Diego (John Baca). He was talking about a ride to the Wall. Must be this?

My first trip to The Wall was early AM when it was new, before sidewalks were installed. It was a mud hole and no lights except for a single volunteer vet with a Coleman lantern under a canopy. It was there I picked up my first MIA/ POW sticker. That sticker is still on my tool box.
The second time I saw the wall was with a coworker on a business trip, a Vietnamese refugee, a retired South Vietnam Army Sargent who was one of the boat people. I am not a war veteran but I consider The Wall a solemn place honoring those of my generation who paid the ultimate price and those who served, and are still among us. As far as Rolling Thunder, I've never been inclined to participate in the D.C. event, but it is huge! I'm not a big crowds fan. Most folks I know who do participate and support Rolling thunder are all in for the right reasons. Best ever speech at D.C. Event was from Heather French, a past Miss America and a great Lady. |

I've been to the Wall twice to visit a friend who fell in VietNam. Both times were overwhelming. I don't think I'd want to share the experience with thousands of others many of whom may still be grieving.

Chicken? Hardly. Although I wrote the check the government didn't accept it and I didn't get to serve as you did. The absolute least I can do is remember.

And someone who served during those times, but doesn't want to visit the wall is certainly not lacking courage or a chicken AB....we all deal with life differently imo. The wall IS an emotional experience even for someone like myself fwiw.... |

Also a vet from the 'war' effort years.
We went to Arlington Nat'l Cemetery on Presidents Day. We did walk over to the Iwo Jima memorial as a side excursion, but I still have no desire to see the Wall - that part is taking some time to work up the courage. Arlington was the best day ever; - that the good old US of A would do that much for vets in this day and age, is beyond comprehension. Bill K
