Charter captains near Jackson, NC?

The families are planning to gather at my brother's new beach house on Emerald Isle.
I have never been to that area and my son has only been to Camp Lejeune.

I'm not much for the basic beach vacation but I like to fish. So I suggested that a charter might be fun.

We will probably have 5 men, maybe a few more if one or more of the girls want to come along. Of course since it is my idea, I get to make the arrangements.

We are a pretty easy going group. Only a couple of us are serious fishermen, we all have a sense of humor and we like a good time. We will want to take beer but no one is likely to drink to excess.

Does anyone on here have experience with charters in the area, good or bad? I always prefer to start with a recommendation rather than calling outfits I see on the internet.

Thanks Guys!

My family has been going to Emerald Isle since '86, every year.

Its a great family beach. My uncle has a boat down there, so I can't help with the charter...

Morehead City has a great charter fleet, anyone of the boys at the city dock will be great. I wouldn't necessarily book off the internet. I would suggest walking the docks and talking to the crews on each boat and make arrangements for the following day. Or be prepared to go and cut a deal. There is a great seafood joint called the sanitary fish market at the city dock. Maybe take everyone there for happy hour and talk to the crews then.

^^^^ Yep,but wouldn't hesitate to call Peppy's Buddy either and schedule either with a group of 5-6. Time of year matters....late fall, and you might have trouble during peak season. They are all the real deal, and you won't go wrong with any of them. Same as it's been my whole life

Thanks Guys - great advice. Actually similar to what my brothers' neighbor told him.

That brother gets deathly sick on boats so he won't be going along.

True, time of year does matter. I just assumed it was in the near future which shouldn't be an issue.

Just sold the boat, or I'd have been happy to take some Pelicans for next to nothing.

Bummer, that'd been fun.

It's a great year-round fishery....spring is yellow fin, summer gamefish, fall wahoo, winter bluefin. Mahi, anytime.
