Haha, can't help wondering if the suggestions would be the same if this were a 911 engine.

Yes because those engines are dry sump oiling with external oil coolers. That piece or pieces of it could clog the cooler lines or oil thermostat and possibly oil feed to cam towers.

OK, using any form of mechanical vibrator or shaker is probably not a good idea ;)

How about the flushing it out with kerosene ?
