Porsche Design Tower in Miami

At planned Sunny Isles Beach condo, cars and drivers ride elevator home - Aventura / Sunny Isles - MiamiHerald.com

Quote:
Pull over into the designated space. Turn off the engine. And enjoy the oceanfront view as you escalate in a glass elevator that takes you, while you are sitting in your car, to the front door of your apartment.

I'm not sure what's so special about this. I've got it now...

...well, without the glass elevator or robotic arm, without the ocean views, 4000-9000sqft condos and up to $9mil price tag. Oh, and without the Porsche too, but it's pretty much the same.

It's a Porsche elevator, not a 914 elevator.

I mean, if you had more money than sense, and were dumb enough to live in little Havanna, why the hell not?

There is an apartment building not far from here in which people can take their cars up to their apartment in a large freight elevator. Everyone laughed at the concept when it was announced, but they sold out over night.

I really like the concept. Say you owned a gorgeous very high-value classic like a Lusso or a Gullwing. How cool would it be to be able to display it securely in your apartment, and still occasionally take it out for a spin?

I don't know what part of the code to check first to see if it can be done here.

Great idea.

Porsche-designed condo lifts owners and cars to high-rise homes - Yahoo! Autos

Sean Gallup/Getty Images

Quote:
The big problem for builders of luxury homes in the cities where wealthy people choose to live is the sheer lack of space, especially for parking a small fleet of vehicles. Which is why one Miami Beach condo developer plans to build a new skyscraper with a robotic parking deck built in.

The $560-million Porsche Design Tower project as described by the Miami Herald will allow owners to ride their vehicles into a robotic elevator system that drops them and their vehicles at their doorstep. The condos were designed by Porsche Design Group, a spinoff of the German automaker that lends its style to everything from office complexes to cellphones. (Developer Gil Dezer also has Porsche body panels mounted on his walls.)

The condo will have 132 units over 57 stories, with larger units sporting up to four parking spaces per unit. Porsche didn't have to go far for inspiration, as the tower is similar in design to Volkswagen’s Autostadt in Wolfsberg, Germany, shown above, a 20-story robotic parking garage that VW uses to deliver cars to new buyers. Really, it's the only way to valet.

The lift portion the car sits on looks way too narrow for an SUV.

The one pictured just delivers new VWs.

Hah, I got an email telling me that it was done. I thought I'd do a search to see if there were other threads. I guess I beat myself to it by 5.5 years.

I guess they are done and ready.
