Watching F1 without cable

I enjoy watching F1, even if it makes me crazy at times!

I would like to cut my cable, so what are the on-line and/or streaming options?

Initial research suggests that NBC Sports Network has the US market pretty well locked down. NBCSN requires a cable connection of some sort, to the extent that if you want to stream you must obtain credentials from your cable company!

or borrow somebodys else's credentials
likely the eazyest way long term

there are sites but they are taken down as fast as they pop up
even if you find a link it will not last

live timing is about it for free
https://www.formula1.com/en/subscribe-to-f1-access.html

there is no way to get legal video yet

btw f-1 does some times pop up on free to air tv
nbc at 8:00am sunday for MC is live and free
sat Q is on nbcsn and practice is on Thursday a MC thing only

Amazon Fire TV

Kodi - PITA to install takes about 10-15 minutes and a you tube tutorial

Feeds are spotty, some kick out some lag etc.. I prefer to find the Sky TV feeds from UK, they are commercial free, the commentators are not fumbling idiots (yelling out the wrong driver just made a pass or go passed) there are not constant tutorials on what all the ins and outs of F1 are and they stay with the top 3 through the weigh in after the race to the green room to the podium. Which can be very interesting sometimes. Last year the Hamilton / Roseberg tension was remarkable.

Since I cannot get Sky here in the states and prefer it over NBC's coverage, I am OK with having to jump from feed to feed in order to watch live. Watching recorded in usually more stable.

I find the Russian live feeds are a tad more stable.

How does one find the Sky TV feeds here in the USA?

Kodi app on a Fire device is easiest, as above.

I use CricFree. Pretty much every sporting event in the world is available live. Typically, there are 8-10 F1 feeds - some stream better than others. Been using it for years. Looks sketchy at first glance, but I've never had a problem.

In the end you are trying to do for free what the F1 owners positively do not want, and what every cable company spends lots of money to provide to paying customers.

We all want something for nothing. It is often difficult to get other people to work for your entertainment for free.

I occasionally can catch F1 on a Mexico TV station.

The US coverage is getting a bit stale.
I'd like to know a way to watch Engish speaking coverage from Europe?

BoxsterGT 05-25-2017 10:53 AM

Anyone follow the Motor Trend online programming? Are all the road racing and sports car races covered? Any complaints?

Is $50 per month the going price? A bit too much for my retirement income.

I used a torrent site (sports cult); the Sky programs were usually up reasonably quickly. The coverage was awesome, so much better than US coverage. No commercials, good analysis, right level of detail.

reddit lists several places to stream F1 live.

To watch the sky feeds from US you need to go thourgh a VPN service that makes you IP look like you are in europe. Then you can watch it with kodi.

Not sure if, or how long, this will work here:

<iframe frameborder="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" height="490" src="http://cricfree.sc/iframe/hdlive/skyf1.php" name="iframe_a" scrolling="no" width="620">Your Browser Do not Support Iframe</iframe>

Curt, great advice. You were comfortable giving them your CC#? Is watching on a laptop your only option?

CurtEgerer 05-28-2017 09:00 AM

No. No CC#. That must be if u click to watch in HD? There are some pop-ups that attempt to come up sometimes, but my ad blocker / virus software has kept me safe for several years.

Just found this while searching for Indy 500 streaming. I don't do Reddit but assuming it's quite useful.
