Shaping up to be a nightmare for Hamilton

Without checking archived stats, this must be Ham's worst weekend ever. His car is junk. There looks to be no fighting at the front this weekend for him.

But good news for the Ferrari.

Wow. I just read the qualifying summary expecting to learn that Hamilton had a mechanical issue or some weird happenstance. Nope. He wound up 14th the old fashioned way - he didn't go fast enough ;)

Not exactly, he got held up by an FIA inspection when they wanted to make adjustments to the car. This took away one of his warmup laps, so he had to do his fast lap a lap earlier than preferred. And on that lap there was a yellow flag and a car stopped on the racing line, so he had to throw the lap away to avoid a collision.

Yeah, I saw that and because I'm a Ham fan I'm looking for him to find a way, to maybe go forward. Might be fun to watch if he gets his car sorted to his liking, or gets lucky with pitstops.

Wouldn't you know: the last time Hamilton qualified 13th, Kimi was on the pole.

How about Button? Hasn't driven one of the new cars before and qualifies 9th. Of course the grid penalty for the engine work will have him start last, but I was impressed.

Best

So Alonso is said to be one of the best, but Button comes in and runs the wheels off the car after never driven it at all. Hmmmm. I just think Alonso is so_so with the team and the car. He's waiting until next year when he says goodby.

Where's Fred gonna go?

Monaco has always agreed with Button. But 9th shows how quick he is, out qualifying his rookie team mate, who has way more seat time than him in this car. Also shows how Monaco puts the driver skill up over the car. Even more impressive is that Button has not driven much at all in 2017, then bangs out a decent qualifying time. Curious that he shows no interest in driving Le Mans, Indy, or any racing car. I guess the last 5 years, F1 has been that bad. I mean, look at Rosberg.

It'll be interesting to see if Mc Hamilton drives "like all the animals" tomorrow, given that he has no chance of coming in 1rst.

He was slow in Q1 (10th) too and slow in practice as well. But if anyone can come to the front, it is him. If he can avoid a wreck on the first lap, it should be a fun show.
