An interesting day.
I did a one day course with a car paint and products supply shop on 101 bodyshop.
We chemical stripped some car body parts, also sander paint removal, phosphoric acid washes. Prepsole to clean dust and possible wax off areas. We spayed 1k etch primers and filler primers, then did the same with 2k epoxy urethane primer. It was a lot in a day and really gave me the confidence to get into some of the (small) problems the SC has. I know there is a lot more to metal prep and primers than a one day course, but it was for interest sake and I'm not setting up a spray booth. Lots of fun and I'll go back in a month for another Saturday of the next stage of spraying topcoats. |

That would be fun. Where did you do it? If nothing else, it might give you an idea of what to look for and questions to ask when looking for a place to have a multi $K paint job done.

Excellent! Please give me the cliff notes version of "I am going to pop my front windshield out and find a whole can of worms in the lower corner- what should I do" chapter!

Thanks, there are guys much more in the know than me around here. But, the class tutor, a good looking female with 8 years car paint and panel experiance!!!, said she would email a mini set of instructions on what we did and product names. So if that arrives I'll attach it.
That was the way I felt about it Marv. Also I live in New Zealand, but I'm sure you guys have the same. A tech instutute place had a night class on the same but every Tuesday for 12 weeks. I wasn't that keen. |
