Spoon scope question
I'm looking for a scope for my AR15. It's got a red dot scope on it, but at 100 yards, I can't see see crap.
Any thoughts on brand and model in the $100-200 range for plinking 100+ yards? Also, what about an offset scope mount. Anyone use one? |
I don't do the AR, but on my target 10/22 I'm using a Simmons White Tail Classic 6.5-20x50 w/ adjustable objective. BIG scope. Also the best $125ish you can spend on glass IF it is suitable for your needs.
I think though for a smaller lighter carbine you'd be happy wtih the Nikon offerings, esp since they have one geared towards 223 in an AR :) Note that the style is available in fixed and variable powers, and that Bass Pro is really high on prices (buy from amazon, etc) Nikon P-223 AR Rifle Scope | Bass Pro Shops |
We have been using Burris scopes for years. Never failed us. Good price point. Check out the Fullfield II. Less than $200.

Burris, Leupold, Vortex. Check out small gun shops. Often they take in rifles with a scope in trade, they'll pull the scope and sell it alone. Can get good deals on lifetime warrantied glass.

If your red dot is not magnified, which it sounds like it is not, try a 3X or 5x dot. In my opinion, much more useful on a plinking gun then scoped. I really enjoy mine on my AR. I have the 3 power, but Burris also offers a 5X.
