Interesting, but does it eliminate the ballistic plates that are designed to defeat 7.62? We never were in the field without those plates.

Local range I can shoot 44 mag (even from a carbine) at the steel plates at 25 yards. 223 isn't allowed it will zip right through the plates. Even 22 TCM or 5.7x28 will zip through them. Big difference in the amount of energy each round generates *and* the area that energy is applied to on impact (223 will be ~1/2 the diameter at best right?)
