Cyber Insurance
So, has anybody looked at it or purchased it? Our insurance agent is pressuring us because of HIPPA concerns. We filled out a short survey on backups, disaster recovery, what is on premise and in the cloud.
Holy crap is it expensive. As in two years is more than the average business Ransomware amounts. What have you had for experience with it? Is it worth it?

You should discuss with your attorney on whether it is required for HIPPA compliance and necessary to avoid liability.
Then it becomes a CBA on $$ vice risk.

We have a great DR plan, good hardware, a decent patch management system, an OK sysadmin (me) and lousy users.
It is not required for HIPPA here. We can chart, pass meds and what not with a cell phone if we had to. Would be better to tether the phone to a laptop, but it could be done. Our biggest issue would be if the mail server were compromised. What we were quoted does not cover user error, which to me is how most companies get in trouble.

PM me if you want to discuss. We provide this. It is a big deal. There are situations where it is required. There are situations where it is prudent. There are situations where you can go without. We have dozens of claims in this area - most of which are not covered. You need to do a careful assessment on your risk. Not certain your exposure but it should not be crazy expensive.
Good luck, Larry |

PM sent.
I would think our biggest risk is either someone breaching from the inside or a keylogger where we don't realize we have been breached.
