Best tea pot?

Not rocket science, but just as elusive?

I've been through a bunch - all, so far, less than ideal.
Common aliments:
whistle doesn't work when full
water boils out of the top
handle gets hot enough to burn your hand
heat discolors the pot
wife hates the shape - (doesn't go with her kitchen)
pot is useless after six months
etc.
etc.
Current pot is a LeCreuset and it is a big-bucks horror. If you're not there when it starts to boils, it floods the rangetop with boiling water from the lid.

What do you recommend for the complicated task of boiling water?

I'm not a coffee drinker, so a properly functioning tea pot is pretty high on my priority list.

If I were to replace, I'd go with an auto off electric that lifts of the powered base.

Got two of these at two different locations. No issues after many years and many boils.

To go even further down that rabbit trail, we have one of these at work (something very similar):

I suggested to my wife I could install one at home and she just looked at me funny (she drinks a lot of tea).

I had a very nice SS pot much like the one posted above... but my wife gave it away.

The ISE isn't the best and they really don't get boiling hot. We put lots of those instant hot units in people's homes and if you decide to install one, get the Everhot. Its a solid unit and they last longer with parts available. We no longer boil water, and use that only. Sorry about the side track on this thread.

The pot is not all that important.

It's the process.

This'll get you started.

Weed – About .5 grams of your best buds, make sure you shred the bud to itys bitsy teeny weeny pieces and flakes. Do not smash it into a powder, just break it up to the size you would normally use when rolling a big blunt.

Butter – You can either use coconut butter, extra virgin olive oil, or regular butter, you need about half a teaspoon so that you can lightly coat your bud with it. Don’t overdo it here and don’t skip this step, thc attaches itself to oils and fats so this step is dire for the brewing process. It also makes everything taste much better.

2 Tea Bags – Green, black, white, or any other flavor you prefer, have two bags, one to use for flavor, and one to take apart to replace its contents with your buds.

Sugar or Honey (Optional) – If you want to add some extra sweetness that will hit the spot just right, add either some organic cane sugar, or raw honey to your tea.

I have a Zojirushi similar to the one pictured. A nice feature on them is the
temperature setting . 175 For Tea , 195 and 208 for coffee. I use the 208
plus a french press for coffee. Works great. Also good for those that like hot
chocolate or cocoa.

i have fully converted over to an electric tea kettle. i love the self shut off option. and it is a *****en way to make hardboiled eggs. no more boiled out water and exploded eggs disasters..yes it happens.

I have had a Russell Hobbs electric tea kettle for over 20 years. Works great!

Anything by Zojirushi is bad-ass. I like Bodum too. I use a Le Creuset on the range, and love it.

Bodum has a rapid boil pot that will boil water in just a few minutes.

I bought two of those zojirushis.
On one, the 208 setting didn't work so it would hold 195 and have to use the boil button and wait a few minutes. Unusual bad quality control for japanese products and that was probably a fluke.
Decent quality otherwise, and it lasted a long time.

Recently I got a cheapo electric 'Elite Platinum' brand for me with view port and led light.
Pretty fast.
It's almost boiled by the time I have the pot and bags ready.

I don't think you should boil the water.
I think you are supposed to turn it off just before boiling and steep your tea bag in that.
What say the UK guys?

You are correct that you don't steep in boiling water, but IMO you aren't correct in your method.

Boil the water (it gets chemicals out and kills stuff that shouldn't be there), then let it cool a little before steeping.

That's why all of the Zojirushi stuff has temps like 208, 195, 175 and/or 160 (for different teas and drinks). Mine will only boil then cool down to the desired temp. The newer models do have a quick temp option which will skip the boil phase.

Doesn't boiling the water release the oxygen?
With the LeCreuset can hear the water start roiling and the pot grumbling before the steam starts to escape.

No, it just turns the water to vapor which then escapes.

My experience is the same for any way that you are boiling water, shortly before the water boils, you can hear what sounds like it should be boiling water. Then it quiets down just before/as the water actually starts to boil.

Zojirushi items are just awesome, I highly recommend that.
