You are shooting turkeys with a painball gun?

lowyder993s 06-08-2017 12:07 PM

PCP -Pre-charged pneumatic air rifle. 100 shots per fill.

Very cool.

tevake 06-08-2017 12:24 PM

That could be so quiet that you may get multiple shots. Not that you would need them.

Cheers Richard

I googled FXairguns... don't do it... you have been warned.

Hint: They have airguns that shoot pellets AND arrows! Don't know why I want one but I do.

And they have .45 & .50 caliber airguns at:

Curious how you charge the air tank?

so the air tank is 4500psi? You only get 100 shots of .25 @ 1000fps at a full fill?

You can get up to around 1500 shots of .68 paintball @ 300 fps on a similar sized and pressure tank. I guess the squared term is really kicking in there for kinetic energy (1/2 m v^2)

I couldn't make it past the first 0:56. I take it he eventually shoots something.

100 Shots on the tank ON the gun...4500 cf tank will fill the gun 30-35x...

aschen 06-09-2017 11:12 AM

I got it that still seems surprisingly low, I looked up the air capacity the on gun tank is around 1/2 liter and 3600 psi. Paintball tanks are usually around 1 liter and 4500 psi, so that accounts for much of the difference.

That's a painful video, total attention whore.

The gun seems pretty useful for pest control.

Lewis & Clark used air rifles and air rifles were the 1st repeating ones .

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girandoni_air_rifle
Quote:

History and use[edit]
The Girardoni air rifle was in service with the Austrian army from 1780 to around 1815. The advantages of a high rate of fire, no smoke from propellants, and low muzzle report granted it initial acceptance, but it was eventually removed from service for several reasons. While the detachable air reservoir was capable of around 30 shots it took nearly 1,500 strokes of a hand pump to fill those reservoirs. Later, a wagon-mounted pump was provided. The reservoirs, made from hammered sheet iron held together with rivets and sealed by brazing, proved very difficult to manufacture using the techniques of the period and were always in short supply.

In addition, the weapon was very delicate and a small break in the reservoir could make it inoperable. Finally, it was very different from any other weapon of the time and any soldier using it needed to be highly trained.

The Lewis and Clark Expedition used the rifle in the demonstrations that they performed for nearly every Native American tribe they encountered on the expedition.[1][2]
