Wow where has the time gone ? 39th wedding anniversary

Today just like every day the past 39 years I woke up laying in bed with my bride . Except today we officially hit 39 years being married ! Man O man where has the time gone ? We raised two great sons that are fine young men and have three wonderful grandchildren .

Back on that sunny June day we started a journey together that not many have followed , through good times and bad we grew together . The good times far out weigh the bad and we are soul mates . We have a real shot at 50 and maybe beyond . Going out to dinner tonight at a local German restaurant to celebrate . I am a lucky man .

I know how you feel - the wife and I celebrated our 18th earlier this week, and September will be 25 years together for us (we both opted for the longer term test drive before getting hitched)

Out of curiosity, how many couples do you know that got married around the same time you did and haven't been divorced? Every single wedding I've attended since 1990 and a few before have ended in divorce, it seems that in both our extended families my wife and I are the only ones who are still in their first marriage...

It seems like Sue and I are the only ones that have stayed married from the social circle we used to hang with . Some have remarried 2 - 3 times are you that messed up ? I am not a religous person but don't wedding vows mean anything to people ?

39 years is a long time, but it seems like it was just yesterday. You have come this far so why not to 50? You guys will be fine. Congrats. Hey, the trick is," Yes Dear", right? :D

Just look at our parents' generation, good or bad, they stay together for a long time. We are too involved in "Me" today.

Congrats to you & your wonderful wife. It's really nice to hear your story contrasted with the threads about your SO hating you and/or leaving after decades. You're living the dream.

Congrats to you both! Cindy & I exchanged vows in a civil ceremony held in the Reno, Nevada courthouse on June 27th 1975. Both of us dressed in Jeans and sweatshirts. The years do slide on by, don't they?

39 years is a big deal because it represents commitment and effort from both...you have to genuinely like each other as well.

28 years next Friday. We will be traveling together to Calais, Maine to pick up a fight test trailer for my company on the day of our Anniversary.

That's why they call me Lance, Lance Romance. Get in the truck, Baby, we got reservations at the Best Western in Calais.

Here's to 50!

Sue and I just got back from a nice German dinner.........nothing says 39 years like schnitzel !! :D I had an ice cold Warsteiner while Sue had a refreshing riesling . We looked at each other after dinner and basically said at the same time " let's keep this going " ;)

I am settling in to watch the 24 hours of LeMans while Sue will do some web surfing . It has been a very comforting day . SmileWavy
