I got a kick out of it the other day after back from a 500k afternoon.
Leaving one of the small towns earlier, I came around a corner near the town square and a group of old guys on motorcycles hiding in the shade of the building started pointing and hooting and hollering at me and big ugly as we went by. Once near home, outside of town I stopped at a doughnut shop to rest my ass and get a drink. I pulled up next to a younger guy with fancy new cruiser. He leapt to his feet and said NICE BIKE MAN! he was all over it and he attracted a crowd to it. Meanwhile there was a small group of adventure riders with all the latest gear and shiniest of new BMWs that had never seen dust, all decked out with their in helmet communication systems and a lead rider holding court. The indignant look on their faces over the fuss that old ugly was getting. On the way out I leapt off a median just for sport hoisting the front air across the ditch. Many thumbs up. Me, old ugly, both of us a little beat up and showing battle scars really seem to have bonded with each other and people seem to know that. They don't see me. They see what they see and they make up their own versions of the stories that want to have in their heads. New bikes don't do that. You've got to take them out in the wild and write their story all over them

Never rode one, but one of the most comfortable bikes I ever sat on.
It was a toss up between one of these and a '86 SRX600. I bought the Super Single. . Was this the model that had a hot cylinder issue - cooling? Or was it the 1300?

Big bore high compression piston kit
Ran in lightweight super bike Diced with all the bigger bikes ( they'd throw out the anchor just as I was looking for another gear) My riding partner with his lap times had all the tz250 gp riders fretting that he was going to enter it the next day in the sprint races ![]()

How about that!
. Those leathers look seriously used. ![]() . ![]() . BTW, they're a cult bike these days...I'm sure you're aware.

commited to riding mon-thurs to work. found out i almost (i said almost) didnt need coffee when i got there. maybe it was the fun, maybe it was the super alertness i have proactively looking for danger and escape routes. i had a BLAST!! the catalyst for the commute was to get friendly with my new motorcycle boots. gobs different from my last pair of Sidi racing style boots. went with more of an off-road boot.
i almost ate it when i got the boot stuck under the shifter..DUH!! i forgot about all that extra mass..now i just lean the boot up against the shifter and CLICK! i dont dig down under like i have street shoes on. kinda regret getting the tall boots..they have a shorter version. ![]()

You and I may end up riding parallel roads on the way there or back...

I sold my last bike 5 years ago after a deer almost hit me on my way to the office one morning. This on top of a losing a friend who rode daily for decades and died because of a momentary lapse of judgement. Just no fun any more.

Glad you enjoyed that. Everide aka Tyler does great ADV/dual sport vids. I think he recently started a B&B in southwest Utah catering to ADV/dual sport riders.
