Most likely won't happen but...This would be very cool!

But it'll never happen.

Maybe not in our lifetime. I suspect we (humans) will figure out a viable way to get to space and the planets in the not too distant future. The USAF was formed in 1947 from the Army Air Corps formed in 1926. So the flying branch of the military is not yet 100 years old. We went from the Wooden flying death traps to the F-22 in that short time.
