1973 Jeepster Commando
Sold a 68 a while back and been regretting ever since.
Been cruising Craigslist sporadically and found a one owner completely original bull nose not too far from me. 75k miles with orig paint. Like the early ones better, but couldn't pass this up. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1499648048.jpg |
WOW... Character with a capital C.
I can imagine Charlton Heston driving that. |
I had an early one as well and like them a little better but that thing is sharp. Nice score! 👍🇺🇸

Back in high school, a classmate had a blue/white Commando. Cool car! |
Nifty!!!
What is that...auto, 3 on the column, 6 or V8? |

Very cool... great find... hope it's a good one.
Be sure to post more pics as you're able. I'm seeing... Schwarzenegger driving it since it's a Commando. ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088944/ ) Hey, is Olive still hanging out in your garage? I hope so... she had a large cheering section here. EDIT: Hmmm... according to the listings at http://imcdb.org, it's a Jeep Commando, not a Jeepster Commando; that vehicle has a different listing. Jeep Commando: http://www.imcdb.org/vehicles.php?make=Jeep&model=Commando&modelMatch=1 &modelInclModel=on Jeepster Commando: http://www.imcdb.org/vehicles.php?make=Jeep&model=Jeepster+Commando&mod elMatch=1&modelInclModel=on http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_760083-Jeep-Commando-C104-1972.html ::: "The Jeepster name was removed after 1971, but the model remained in production for two more years as the Jeep Commando. In 1972, it received a "conventional" full-width grille." |
She is a 6 cylinder automatic.
Purpose is for family cruising around the lake and the mountains. The plan is a mechanical restoration and probably install disc brakes. Also add a soft top and maybe a roll bar. Might go with a 2.5" lift so she sits a little better. Sorry, Olive is long gone. Restoration stalled and she was taking up too much space. One bay for the frame and one for the body. |
Very nice--love the Commandos, more pics needed!

Still not sure what I am going to do with this thing.
Stayed original for so long,, dont want to be the one to butcher her up. But a 2" lift looks soooo nice! And she needs some brake work, so go disc on front? Both of these mods are easily reversible. If I had that beauty I'd leave it dead stock. I have other vehicles (2 & 4 wheel) from which I can get thrills/satisfaction.
In short, I'd take it on its own terms...not try to make it "better", etc. . BTW, did it come with any manuals and/or paperwork? |
those are 4x4's?
i love it..i rarely see them anymore. |

My FIL had a '67, the 'Jeep' grille. It had the V6 (Buick) that he did not like 90 degree was very rough. |
Yup, 6 cyl, automatic, 4wd, convertible station wagon!!
Only paperwork is owner's manual. |

Quick show of hands, who went onto CL "just to see' if there is a Jeepster nearby?
This one looks pretty good; the "bad" in the ad scares me a little but it's just three hours to take a peek. must. resist. https://seattle.craigslist.org/est/cto/6216486517.html |
Ok guys, thinking of selling the jeep.
Picked up an early mustang convertible and don't drive the jeep anymore. If anybody is serious PM me and we can discuss. Looks to be all original including paint. Only thing I did was rebuild the brakes including new MC and front disc conversion. Still have original parts. 15k obo |
