First sports illustrated draft
My Mother passed away recently and we found a working copy of the first edition of Sports Illustrated.
My Aunt was a photographer for Sports Illustrated and possibly a graphic artist/layout type person living in NYC working for SI and or Time/Life magazine, as well as her husband. It's in great shape and has a note to my Mother and Father included. Are there any sports history people here that might venture a value or market for such an item? Thanks in advance, Paul. It's 11 pages. Need to resize the photos. Will post pics when I figure it out

The first issue is dated Aug. 15th. Note to my Mother is dated Aug 5th. 10 days to print and get to market? Not likely I think.

Did you see the MG rallying? Or what appeared to be a motorcyclist wearing assless chaps? Good stuff!

Thats a terrific piece!
Pretty easy to have it appraised and if the itch to auction, get it to one of the premier auction houses. Let them catalog and market it. I wouldn't gamble doing it solo by online auction sites. Too many goofballs and scams. Let the professional houses deal with it. Another option for free appraisal and prime publicity is to get it on Antiques Road Show.
