Jake Lamotta
He's the guy who inspired the Scorcese film starring Deniro: The Raging Bull.
He just got remarried around 2011 at age 90, I think. Sixth or 7th marriage. A subsequent cinematic iteration of his life story was made recently and released last January called 'The Bronx Bull' which I just yesterday happened to watch. Fascinating guy this Giacobbe Lamotta. |
Loved Raging Bull. One of Deniro's better efforts.
Jake acted as an advisor on the movie. Imagine exposing yourself like that? |
Worked the UN a few years back. Jake walk by almost every day real personable guy. Shock hand took pictures said hello every time. Nice guy.

Apparently the guy sustained immense pummeling throughout his career. Basically, he was a pounder. Get in close, keep pounding NO MATTR WHAT.
Was in quite a few movies, ran/owned a few bars, did stand-up. Threw a fight in order to get a future shot at the title. The mob paid him but he refused the money, supposedly. Tutored Deniro for months on his style and in boxing in general. |
The wife slapping scene in the movie was haunting. I'd never seen anything like that before.
Now it's common but at the time it was shocking. |
For the second movie, The Bronx Bull, I think Jake was heavily consulted, too. His early years were brutal. Apparently, his street fighting auccess came mostly from his ability to take serious hits. I read somewhere that he has an unusually thick skull. No joke.
He's like 95 years old right now. |
