Look what I found today

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1500742643.jpgThe owner didn't seem to be home, so I just shoved as much money as I could through the mail slot, with a "call me " note. We'll see how it goes. A 1938 I think.

and this is what I found yesterday, (while touring around)http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1500742873.jpg

Old trucks rock. Had a 41 GMC hotrod and a stock 50 Chevy in my youth. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/beerchug.gifhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/beerchug.gif

It's a 1938. Ford or Merc?

They had Mercury trucks in Canada, didn't they?

They did, but this one says "Ford" on the badge which you can see just behind the headlight

Nothin but gold there -

The Ford looks to be in great shape, as do those Pilot House Dodges. Don't they use salt on the roads up there?

Yes, I had to look it up to refresh my memory. In '46 Ford Canada began building slightly upscale trucks and badgeing the Mercurys. This one had to be a Ford, being pre-war. Great looking truck. I hope someone preserves it.

Art-Deco trucks for the masses. If you decide you don't want to keep it, let me know....

By the tons...

Use to drive my enduro all year around in Halifax and the only time I slide off the road was not because of snow or ice but salt...

Sweet patina on that thing! Clean it and drive it!

The lines and proportions on that thing are so beautiful. And look how the fenders are gradually rolled in just a little the last few inches before they end at the fenderwell line. Somebody put a lot of thought into that.

There was none of that left in the lines of the '51 that my dad and I refurbed in my teens.

Good luck with the offer.

.

Yep. But they only made the barrel-nose pickups for one year. They went back to car-based sheet metal in '39.

I am constantly amazed by the vehicle you are able to find. Well done.

Wow, that first one is beautiful. They just don't make 'em like that any more.
