Weight Loss Breakfast
Lost 15 lbs. in two months. I'm on a mission to get off a few meds.
Scrambled eggs, chopped green pepper, parsley, chopped hot stuffed peppers w/ Prosciutto & Provolone, chopped Turkey breast, and cottage cheese. I don't get hungry until late afternoon. Some mornings I'll have baked Salmon steak and steamed Broccoli. 1/2 gal. of filtered water/day. Got to lose another 25 lbs. 155 - 160 is my fightin' weight. Diabetes, cardio, gout, high Triglycerides, Dunlop gut, (gut dun lopped over belt), etc. I'm a mess. ![]() ~~~~~~~~~~~ ![]()

Hey, hang in there Don. I learned last year my blood sugar was getting into the pre-diabetes level. Most likely age related. My weight doesn't fluctuate more than a few pounds but has seemed to creep up a few pounds to where I was weighing in at 178 most of the time. So I cut out almost all things with sugar and simple carbs. Haven't had a cookie, cake, pie, ice cream, etc. now for over six months, and I'm sort of to the point I don't gravitate toward but away from food with sugar elevating things in it. So I've gotten down to a consistent 174 lbs. lately. That doesn't seem like much of a change, but for me it is considering my weight hasn't fluctuated below 172 or above the 178 figure for more than thirty years.

Excellent. . I remember that day (25 yr.s ago) when I stepped on the scale (naked) and saw 165. I was shocked. Always been fit and "ready". Had a Bruce Lee body all of my youth. I can't accept 195 - 200...no way. I'm 5' 10".

Two best things ever to happen to my waistline was running out of cereal and granola.
Eggs with meat and veggies way better than processed grains. Most of the week it is oatmeal with fruit and peanut butter for me. However I mix it up some. I did smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and a corn torrilla for about a year with good results. Just find something that works for you.

Go hardcore and egg whites only.
Agree all lean and green. ![]() ![]() I keep spicy ahi Poke and Medium size shrimp and cocktail sauce in the fridge. Quick and lean protein snack. Drink lots of water. Although a Margarita and chips still sounds good once in a while. |

eat less food, eat less crap food (out of a box, lots of sugar, heavily processed), eat lots of fiber.
Avocados are good, lots of fiber and good fat/cholesterol and they help you feel full.

A buddy of mine that sits next to me at work decided he needed to lose some weight. His family (parents, uncles, etc...) are overweight with a history of diabetes, and in December he decided that he wanted to skip all of that drama. Just after New Years he started the Diamond Dave yoga plan. He does yoga and sees a difference in his strength, but a big part of the plan is a way of eating more healthy. He's 5'10" and weighed 282 in Jan and has lost somewhere between 67 and 70 pounds since Jan of this year eating the way listed in the document below. I think he's on the "intermediate" plan. I think he used to wear a XXL, and now he's wearing L.
Here's the plan. DDP Yoga program guide

1 hard boiled egg, every day.
I lost 30 lbs in a few months, plus it helps offset gain when I am bad. I eat 50-75% of what I used to eat. Limit carbs. Lunches are salads 5 days a week. Dinners are salad twice a week. Tomato, avocado, walnuts, grapes, pears a little goat cheese, spinach of mixed greens with a grapeseed oil/balsamic dressing. Oh, I love salads. No sugar or artificial sweeteners. Not a diet, a change to eating habits. Easy

I'm three weeks into Keto and am probably down about 10 lbs. I'll keep it going until mid-Sept. when I head to Germany and must indulge on beer and bread, though that stuff is not processed there, so it won't be as bad. My breakfasts are Black Forest ham with a fried egg and slice of American cheese, sometimes cream cheese pancakes (no carbs) and sometimes a cup of CarbMaster yogurt. Lunch is roast beef and American cheese roll ups. Dinner is smoked salmon in a cesar salad, sometimes baked chicken, grilled steak, always steamed greens. I haven't gone over 20g of carbs in a day once since I started.

My breakfast is a protein shake.
Half a banana, ice, water blended with 100% whey protein powder. Keeps me full until lunch. 150 calories tops.

I'm on the Atkins diet for the same reasons, beer belly, type II diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.
Co-worker's husband got off his type II meds with the Atkins. Carbs=bad, fat=okay +1 on staying away from junk food and focus on 'real' food. Drink a LOT of water and try to have several meals throughout the day. I'm 5'11, was a construction worker and weighed in around 190, became a computer tech and ballooned to 220, currently at 185, goal is 175 (high school weight, walking to school uphill in the snow burned a lot of calories ![]()

I have been trying to eat better, but not neccesarily less. I'm 5-10 182#. and just want to feel healthier, not lose a bunch of weight. We have cut out all margarine/vegatable oil from our diet, and do more meals in the crockpot (less frying, and grilling). I have been eating more apple sauce, bananas, yogurt, and less cookies, cake, candy and sugary drinks. I am down about 8-10# now and want to lose another 10#, but no hurry.
This thread reminds me that we have our own eggs, so I need to hard boil some tonight. |

Breakfast: nothing Lunch: nothing Dinner: pretty much eat whatever I want (usually a reasonable meal that the wife cooks) I've been doing this for probably 5 years now. I found that as I've gotten older (I'm rapidly approaching 53), I just don't need to eat as much. I weigh within 5 lbs of what I weighed when I graduated from high school (~215... I'm 6' 3"). Calories in/calories out - it doesn't matter much what you eat - it's how much you eat. You can eat nothing but Twinkies all day long, but as long as you watch the calories, you won't gain any weight - Twinkie diet helps nutrition professor lose 27 pounds - CNN.com.

That's the key.
That and don't give yourself "I can't have XXXX, or I can't do YYYY". When you give yourself absolutes, and you break those, it's too easy to "go off the wagon". Just minimize and when you fall off the wagon, jump back on. When you meditate, you aren't expected to immediately be able to empty your mind and keep it empty indefinitely. It's not about how you are able (or not) to empty your mind, it's about what you do when thoughts creep back into your mind. Keep trying.

Try a frozen banana, some nut butter and some unsweetened cocoa powder and either water or milk (we use a combination of almond milk and coconut milk). The nuts provide protien and the cocoa powder provides flavonoids or whatever the stuff is that's supposed to be good for your heart and stuff.

A while back I bought a sodastream maker and just have the plain water put through it. By swapping my orange juice (and I was buying the good stuff) for water I lost 18lbs in about three weeks. It never occured to me the natrual sugars would cause weight gain
![]() For breakfast I have a bowl of rolled oats, porridge style, with soy milk and three lattes. |

At first I thought that I needed to deny myself. The cravings were bad after a few months. Now, I have my beer, cocktail and limit the "bad". But NO denial.
