computer gurus need DSL modem help

Slowly moving into our retirement house where the only internet available is Windstream DSL . It is working fine but the $10.00 monthly rental fee for the modem I want to eliminate . We have an Action Tec T3200 wifi modem/wireless router which there are some available on the net for sale but seem to be not as popular as other brands .

So what brand/model numbers are equivalent to the T3200 ? We're not gamers just run a few laptops/tablets and we stream our TV's with Roku's . Does the modem/router have to say its Windstream compatible or will any DSL router work ?

Pretty much yup.

ActionTec is actually a good brand.

You don't find them on the secondary market as often because their primary customer base is cable operators meaning 99% of the units get leased out and get returned when service is canceled.

Verizon / FIOS is probably their biggest customer which gives them huge market share making it somewhat unnecessary for them to compete in the end user channel.

The T3200 you have is a premium router, dual band AC and supports beamforming.

It's not junk, far from it.

Many cable or DSL modems are sold by the service provider. They may not have the lowest price, but you can call their tech support phone line and get support. Sometimes that is worth a lot to make your life easier. If you have an issue and have a not supported modem they will ALWAYS say it is you equipment causing the issue. If buy it from them, they will work with you.
Buy it from them and be done.
