Scamazon

The last few weeks, Ive gotten several very similar emails . Message content asks me to take a survey so I can get a free gift. I do not click on the link. I do not often buy on Amazon and if I did I'd remember it. Probably an attempt to deliver a virus. I use Linux so it will not likely be a problem. Are you guys getting this too ??

Not me... Where else do you use your email?

porsche4life 08-15-2017 07:32 PM

So just to clarify... this is scammers faking being Amazon, not Amazon.

As with all emails, if it looks odd don't click the link, log in to your account directly from your browser.

I use one email account for everything.

As I said above, this is not an Amazon problem but a scammer problem but WOW, thats sort of scary.:eek:

I've been getting them also.
Weird subject lines that are not germane to my Amazon activity.
I trash them.

Evans, Marv 08-15-2017 08:33 PM

I got some for a while, but they said my order was canceled. They went directly to the trash.

Bob, contact Amazon CS. They will take care of you.

A lot of third party sellers on Amazon send emails trying to get you to give them feedback, often they'll give you some little 'gift' for it.

Personally, I don't harass my Amazon customers, although about 75% of my competitors do.

RKDinOKC 08-15-2017 10:48 PM

Companies with marketing departments like to harrass customers for some reason. Don't think Marketing people understand the customer at all. They just like to look at all the pretty numbers.

i never click on that survey stuff. And it never comes to my inbox. My spam filter catches it.

Your Amazon order.....

Your FedEx shipment........

Your invoice.......

Your recent xxxxx order.........

And on and on

All scams

Been going on since the emergence of email.

If ya hadn't noticed you've either not been paying attention or have had the almost impossible good fortune of never having your email address get on a list.

In the olden days, you could just connect to a server on port 25 and tell it "Hey, send this to every account in your domain - thanks!"

RKDinOKC 08-16-2017 05:27 AM

Yep on the olden days, but even then there was server anti-virus/anti-spam software for almost every platform called RAV Reliable Anti Virus. It worked GREAT! Then Microsoft Bought the company, Microsoft. Grrrr.

Yes its been going on forever. A couple months ago I got the Fedex one. It was dated 2012. The Amazon one is very similar, with fake order numbers and links. I guess some people actually click. If I didnt order something I know its BS. I guess if one had made a purchase they would think the email is real and maybe follow the links.

Sounds like a young whippersnapper that never had to use UUCP or an email address with a ! in it.
