$1000 In Parts Contest
In addition to Porsche's most of us have many interests.
Family and aviation are my other enjoyments! Well, my daughter came to me, with excitement, and insisted that we enter a photo contest to win $1000 in airplane parts. It was a blast having "Daddy/Daughter Time" as we had a photo session for this contest! We are currently in 2nd place with only a couple days left. Please vote for our picture. It takes only about 5 seconds and No signup or email required. Click the link below and then the "VOTE" icon below the picture. https://lasar.com/contest/?contest=photo-detail&photo_id=1834 I know that we can win this with help from our Pelican friends! THANK YOU! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1503539558.jpg |
Voted and a bump.

I voted. What does $1k in airplane parts get you? I'm guessing the airplane tax is greater than the Porsche tax.
|
Sorry, I voted for the other guy.
|
Voted. Good luck. Tim

I think about three items fall into that price range. A set of spark plugs, LED landing lights or a set of tires. A set is only three! My daughter (AKA Copilot) and I have enjoyed flying since she was about 6. Mama prefers to sit in back and take a nap. Works well for all of us! In a couple more years, when she starts driving, I bet she will shift to the Porsche bug. That's about the time the Ice Green, 912E restoration should be complete. Here is a pic from her younger years. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1503548620.jpg |

Pls keep us up to date. It all sounds like fun - plus paying regular prices for aeroplane parts

Another vote added... BTW, I was in Chicago at the end of last week (in Old Town) and watched the Blue Angels practice for the air show. What and experience! Lots of other cool planes about also. Figure you were probably around for show Sat and Sun. Not many better places to experience something like that (i.e., over the lake).

What engine is in your mooney? Didn't some of these come with an SC engine that Porsche warranted for life and then backed out of?
I voted as well. Best of luck. |
Done and a bump!

I voted for you as well. Good luck.

Thanks Everyone!
To change tires, you place a jack under each wing at the jack points and add a tail weight or sling the engine with a engine hoist. An update can been seen during the contest by clicking the tab above the picture that shows the current top ten. The Chicago air & water show is pretty cool, but the true largest worldwide aviation "Event" is at Oshkosh WI every year. You can check it out at www.airventure.org My daughter and I have flown in for the last 7 out of 8 years. Pretty cool, fly in and camp with the plane. I have a Continental TSIO-360 engine in my Mooney M20K model Porsche did have a joint project with Mooney in 1988. It did not go well! The Porsche powered plane was slower than the other models and had a major premium of about $70K. Porsche's stubborn position caused the failure. They even insisted on a 11 blade fan to cool an engine, while robbing HP while air is being shoved into the engine at 170KTS/200MPH. Porsche offered to upgrade the motors to a non Porsche motor while contributing $70K of the 100K bill. Many jumped at the chance, then a hurricane destroyed the conversion building and Porsche decided to get rid of the rest of their liability by destroying all spare parts. The engine was a built on the 930 case, but a non turbo. Google Porsche Mooney, PFM or Mooney M20L for more info. For those just entering this thread, please vote for our picture. Mark,
That body paint is so over done! Less coverage is good! |
Cool boots though.
