Why do most Americans pronounce "Porsche" wrong?

Funny thing is that in German videos, they say it "poe-sha"

My daughter correcter her teacher one day and when the teacher said daughter was wrong said daughter showed teacher the video from Porsche on how to pronounce it. Teacher then said the video was obviously wrong. She also had a teacher that said Mercury was the hottest planet since it was closest to the sun and then argued when she was corrected.

She no longer attends that public school.

People mispronounce stuff because they don't give a rats pajamas.

Understand. Teachers are people too and can be just as opinionated, close-minded and stubborn as anyone, but changing schools seems to be a drastic change for your daughter. A serious meeting with the principal and teacher, along with a possible transfer to another class, might have provided the desired effect and forced that "teacher" toward an alternate career path.

Last time I checked the forum a few years ago it just didn't matter.

There was even a factory rep in one video saying it didn't matter, claimed the Porsche family members drop that last syllable once in a while.
