Interesting quote in Excellence Magazine

September 2017 issue (yeah, I'm behind on my reading) article about a nice 914-6
Quote:
But when we see manufacturers working hard on their computer-controlled electric power steering algorithms to introduce some greater semblance of "road feel" back into the driving experience, or we see Jaguar and others implementing a computer-synthesized artificial burble into the exhaust note on deceleration, what is that telling us?
This is why I don't care if your water cooled luxury whatever is faster and more comfy than my 1987 air-cooled dinosaur. Nest-ce pas?

I'm an analog kind of guy, but it sounds like a decent driving experience is only an algorithm away, assuming that you are still allowed to take the wheel...

Daniel, We are not far away from the time when you characterize your car on a USB memory stick, plug it into a machine along with a competitor's USB stick and the machine declares the winner.

Generational. 200 years ago, a horse fart was welcomed. I drive my old Targa and my new Highlander - the Targa is fun for a short time, the Highlander is perfect everyday.

Maybe it's all relative? I have a vivid memory of driving a friend's then new 1987 and thinking Porsche had turned the 911 into a luxobarge. A speedster owning friend drove my '72S and expressed the same feeling.

Bigger, heavier, more luxury with less driver connection has been the Porsche trend..

Haha, I've got a Honda XR400 trail bike, and after I get off that and into the 911SC I think "Why does THIS car feel so refined." Yep, it's all relative
