Wow, I was surprised at how much it varied from depth to depth. 100' from test to test. And the trucks were 120'.
Not recently, but in the past, I have run them way past what I should have due to $$ constraints.

Thanks Patrick, now I'm gonna have to sell the kids so I can buy new tires every week.

I see cars all the time running off brand nearly bald tires... and we do get some rain around here...That's why I'm constantly looking in my rear view and always planning an exit... The old motorcycle instincts are still there...

After watching that It's hard to know what to do.
Tires are the only things I go to a professional for & I usually replace them before they wear down to the indicator bars. But good tires are getting expensive!

Interesting. & I get it.
How do they compare in the dry? Since it never rains in so. California. Intuitively you might think the 2/32" would stop quicker. But I doubt it. How about 'g's on a 300' skid pad? 2/32" or 10/32". |

in the dry you stop quicker with less thread. They tested that at Top Gear long long time ago.
Thread only has use in the wet 4m15 for dry test

...as tested by the folks who want to sell you more tires... yeah. Seems legit.

Tire age and durometer scale as important as tread depth.
With slicks the good is gone in 3 laps. |

My question is also about whether the tires tested above were "worn down" or "shaved down" to 4/32" and 2/32". I assume a 2 year old or 5 year old tire that was worn down from 10/32" to 2/32" vs one that was shaved down will also act different (wet and dry).

I remember the old Michelin X and ZX tires being particularly good in the rain and snow until they were almost worn out. I ran a lot of those tires. I also remember how when you looked at the sipes in the tread that they wore in such a way as to have a sharp leading edge on the sipes, and they really seemed to bite into the snow.
