Rattlin the Bell
Searched for my old rattlesnake belt threads and got lazy.
I moved to a townhouse two months ago, or so, from 18 acres, butt up on another 1,000 acres of wildlands. Unpacking came across the last remnant of the old place, a rattler I killed in front of my garage, that I had turned into a belt and decided to do this, about $15 from Amazon for the display bell. I trussed it up with really thin monofilm. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1505175710.jpg |
I think you need a hobby, Hugh.

I don't always display my trophies, but when I do... :)
|
I guess that I just amuse myself easily.

That's kind of cool! If that were me, one improvement I would make is to shorten the shank of the hook so that the rattle hung free;
but that's just me. |
Thanks, actually I was thinking the same thing.
I'm going to see if I can remove the brass shank entirely and just hang it from monofilm from the top of the bell with just the wooden knob thing on top in place. |

• I had a few tiny Schwinn "Krate" models - Apple Krate, Orange Krate, Lemon Peeler, Pea Picker. I hated to just see them sitting around so I crafted a little stand: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1505244800.jpg • In the background is a vestige of an idea for a display of five of my 1/18 model Porsches. I haven't sussed out the details yet. I may never. • And here is a vise I restored last Friday afternoon. I'll probably never use it, but it was free to me and it was in terrible, rusty condition when I got it. It's better, now. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1505244902.jpg I have oodles of things like this rattling around in the clutter.....Helps to keep the cobwebs dusted off! |
Pulled the hook, and am going to look into a small flat screw to put in its place. I think I can just wrap the monofilm around the screw and fish it it with a screwdriver. That way it will hang from the top of the bell.
