Spare Carfax report anyone?

I'm looking at an old VW, probably around 1980. It came from the UK at some point in its past, so unsure if there will be anything on Carfax or similar service. Don't really want to buy a package to find that out.

Does anyone have a report left over from a recent car buying exercise? I believe when you sign up for these services you often get multiple shots at running a vin.

You're not supposed to cut into the Carfax business as I understand it.

If you want a Carfax you're supposed to pay for it, or look for free help elsewhere.

So in summary 'who can run a free carfax for me?' is 'frowned upon' by the person who hosts this site. His site. His rules.

This was more of a big deal when you could buy a Carfax subscription and run unlimited searches on vehicles you were interested in.
Last time I used them, you purchased a package that would allow a given number of searches.
If someone has bought and paid for a six pack, it shouldn't be a big deal if one is given away.
Maybe that has changed again?

Billybek, this was my understanding too. Last time I bought Carfax, I got a package of five, but had purchased after three. So the others go to waste.

You can just start a listing on eBay for the car you want a Carfax on. eBay will run a free AutoCheck on it and post the report to the listing. Print it and then end the listing. It will be free.
