Any of you close to Virginia Beach?

I am just curious. I recently joined Facebook and last night a friend request showed up. Turns out its the drummer in my former reggae band. We are talking back in the early 80īs. Apparently he moved to the US in 1988. I have had no contact with him since then until last night. He has a big family and is vice pres in some kind of dental technician company.
After finding my name on FB he started a private group in which we already have come in contact with all the rest of the band members.
All great fun and good use of FB.
Me and the pianoplayer have been in contact all the way and kept on playing. Now we are building a somewhat more serious recording studio in my basement. The idea is that the rest of the former band members will contribute with their instruments "long distance" as it were. Hugely looking forward to how that may play out.
As Jake Elwood stated: We are putting the band back together.

pretty cool livi. Va Beach is just a few hours south of me. very busy beach town thanks to Navy and nearby towns like Jamestown, Williamsburg, etc. as well as Busch Gardens amusement park.

Some very good fishing in the area as it is at the mouth of the great Chesapeake Bay. We've fished there a few times along the CBBT (Ches. Bay Bridge-Tunnel) for big red drum & cobia.

Sounds nice. That is an impressive bridge-tunnel indeed.
And I do like fishing!

Like beretta, Virginia Beach is a few hours south of me. I am in Yorktown as I type.

Once you get to VB proper there is lots to do and a good vibe. However, the traffic getting there sucks in stupefying ways.

that's because you're coming from the wrong side of the bridge!

I'm with Paul on this. The traffic alone keeps me from going there.

I went to a ceremony near Williamsburg in July. That was enough to keep me away for a few years.

I remember as a kid, we were on the way to Kitty Hawk North Carolina for the summer vacation and we stop at pier to watch the USS Enterprise which was on its way out, quite impressive to see.

Similar photo of the one I took (in a box somewhere in basement) if I would have been in the helicopter...

Isn't that the truth. Unfortunately, the red point is where my farm is...the traffic going up and over through Annapolis is almost as bad and adds hours!

Driven in twice....Both times, Hwy 13 from the north and over the bride/tunnel. Last time, picked up a rental at Newark and too the ferry across Cape May. Pleasant drive to avoid the I-95.
