shipping from canada

OK so not real technical but I need some help. Can anyone explain what the heck is going on. I bought a convertible top and the guy had is all boxed up and picked up by UPS. They gave him a shipping quote so that is what I paid. After they pick it up and have it help hostage now they want like $2000 in broker fees to get it across the border. Is this for real or am I missing something. Totally absurd they are trying to make me a broker for one deal. Anyone have some advice....

Well maybe not as bad as I thought I just heard back and they added too many digits to the number so things are looking a bit better. I am wearing a heart monitor right now should be interesting what shows after seeing that price.

They better have WAY too many digits. I pay about $200 to get a Bobcat brought from Canada to the states. Good luck!

Yes UPS and FedEx are a bunch of thieves when it comes to "brokerage fee" across the border, either way. I can't remember how much you pay for it but 2K is ridiculous. If it was over insured they might be using that number. Is the stuff stuck in Vancouver?

Too late now (or they would not do it), but the only one that don't charge an arm and leg is Canada Post and USPS.

The other way around (US to Canada) the Canadian guy can do is own brokerage and supply the invoice number (supplied by Canada Custom) to UPS or FedEx and that is it.

You might want to check with the US custom.

Edit: When I start typing there was no replies. Great but they still are a bunch of thief.

Hi..I live in Vancouver, BC, and for what it's worth, when shipping or receiving, I do so from the US...In my case from Blaine WA.. This way their are no brokerage fees, just normal US shipping fee's.
