My problem is, I don't keep beer in those cups long enough to tell how long it will keep my beer cold. Seems like a waste of money to me.

I really don't need a Yeti cooler. I just use my $500 Dyson Osilating Fan to keep my beer cool.

I have the Tundra 105...I loaded it with 40 lbs of ice in So Cal. and drove nonstop to hunt with Vash in Idaho. 6 days later came back with plenty of ice in the cooler. Left it in the back of the truck for another 3 days while I surreptitiously drank the rest of the beer and rum out of it. You get what you pay for! I just bought 1 of their Hopper 40's (soft side Cooler) to haul geese back from Canada.

My local Ace Hardware store has a display of Yeti Coolers and Big Green Eggs in the impulse buy area where they coral you before you check out..

Standing on line one day, this obvious recent Crooklyn transplant flipped over a price tag on one of the coolers and in the most colorful way with a heavy Brooklyn accent says...

"Who the Eff would pay 400 Effing dollars for a friggin cooler" " Are these people Effing nuts?"

He ranted for a bit and then saw the Big Green Eggs... and a choice volley of colorful invective followed..

And there were more than a few people on the check out line laughing at this guys astute observations..

I do not live in high income zip code..

Pic of the impulse buy area with no line... but Yetis and Big Green Eggs....

Branding is everything. Think Harley Davidson and John Deere. The money is in the name.

The rope handle design sucks. Even worse, the handle can roll right out of your hand. I prefer the Pelican coolers.

They're hard to read. I thought they said "slut life". Apparently I've unfairly judged quite a few of my fellow drivers over the last couple years.

Based on the target demographic, they may be one and the same.....

Some interesting comments. For some reason, I expected more luv from this crowd/demographic. I am not familiar with their other products (mugs, bottle openers, etc), but I have had the Yeti 45 on my list for some time now. I just can't seem to pull the trigger on it. I'm sure it has everything to do with price vs. utility. We do quite a bit of track-side car camping at the IMSA events, and it might be nice not having to worry about ice for the three days we normally spend camping. Last event was charging like $8 per bag and I don't really like leaving the track once we get there. But as someone already pointed out, it's like spending $350-$400 to keep $2 worth of ice! As you can see from my wishy/washy post, I am also torn...

I might be a buyer at $250 (Yeti 45), but creeping up into $400 and I start to question.

I bought the Cabela version of this for 250 and it came with a free 150 dollar cart for it. I'm very happy and it has a button to release the vacuum effect the coolers have. I had a hard time opening my brother in law's Yeti.

I first came to understand the overreaction / hype when my nephew engaged in the following transaction a few years back during the holidays.

Q: where did you get that beer?
Nephew: I got it from Joe's Yeti

There is an underlying importance placed (by some of my relatives) on wealthy people and/or the stuff they buy, thereby making it impressive to a 20 yo that can't hold a job at the fry station. So he couldn't just say he got the beer from the cooler on the back porch, the Yeti had to be emphasized.

But they are also impressed with a bottle of Crown Royal (that they mix with Coke).
