Agreed 400 on the Ferarri.
I've driven the 400, 365, 308, 328, and one of the modern Ferarris. |
Gads! I'd forgotten about the Chrysler K cars...they're as "rare" as the Chevy Citations. For pretty much the same reasons.
|
I restored this clunker...and probably have more tied up in it than a lot of "classics". About 1 million Corvairs were built. Not sure how many remain.

Nice! You gotta love those early Corvairs. |
ASA 1000 GT - Ferrari designed, Bertone built. Almost bought one on a used car lot in Garland TX in 1968.

Hows about the 1970 390 AMC Javelin, compared to the 1975 100 HP V6 AMC Pacer wagon (with rook rack, and wood stickers on the side).

Moving forward, the Dino never got much respect in its day, but they don't drive all that badly. At least the ones with a roof on them... Speaking of roofs, the 308 GTS models drove like ****. A GTB was OK but cut the roof off and it turned into a complete turd, even when new. The worst of those were the two valve injected models. They were so lacking in power my mother's station wagon cut out-drag one. Ditto for the equivalent Mondial, which was the same ****ty idea with two more seats and a few hundred more pounds. Moving on to the modern era, Ferrari didn't build a complete turd so much as they had cars with really ****ing bad idea as built into them. In the 80s you had electrical systems in the Testarossa and 348 that were subpar. The 348 had a terrible interior, the 355 had all sorts of engine problems and more interior problems. The 456 had windows that were beyond problematic. I could continue, but you get the point. |
Some of the most valuable Ferraris are the one-off's. Ferrari might build a basic car, however limited in production it might be, then examples got re-bodied by some of the styling houses of the day. Here's an example of the 410 Super America, rebodied by Ghia.
How would you like to be one of the idiots that has owned this turd in it's history? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1506004686.jpg |

Drumroll please .................................................. .......
gentlemen: I present to you. ...... the Cadillac Cimarron! It may not the biggest POS in history, but it was certainly one of the most over-priced. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1506006502.jpg |

Here's another complete turd that was owned for about 30 years by a guy I know here in Tulsa. Believe it or not, this started out as a very desirable short wheelbase California Spider, then Luigi Chinetti himself sent it to Zagato to completely redo the coach work and interior.

In my high school years, one of the rich kids brought a '57 El Dorado to school...I thought it was something else. His dad was a GM trouble shooter executive type, so had the connections to get one. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1506015179.jpg |
