Sid's just getting up there in years too and ain't a youngin' no more :). My corporate gig was driving a keyboard too, but before I totally trashed my knee (b-ball), I'd be on the courts (basket or volley) after work several times a week...outside, in the hot FL sun. Now decades later, I'm in better shape than when I quit the corporate world at 48. Acres of land, Mother Nature, and an arsenal of Stihls, etc. keeps me happy and in decent shape for a lazy bum :).

I ripped out a couple of patches of bamboo last year, or so I thought. It's still popping up here & there. I'm really glad I no longer work construction now that I'm in my fifties. I'd rather try to stay fit shooting hoops & riding my bike. Pouring concrete is a young mans game.

Did about 4 hours of work getting the camper off the truck and setting up a base for it to sit on for the off season.
A few little repairs and poof, half the day was gone. Was tired last night and can feel that I did something out of the ordinary today. |

I'd love to start exercising more but it's a time issue. I'm up at 6 to get around and out the door for work, usually get home somewhere between 6 and 7. By the time I feed kids, help with homework etc, it's time to head to bed myself! |
fWorked in a machine shop when younger toting all sort of metal parts and bins around. Then moved into the drafting department. We never so worn out than after a day of keeping that pencil moving and drawing lines all day. So it is not just the muscles outside the skull.

Just finished phase 2 and 3 of my ditch digging. Kid you not, I was stronger today. Or my technique is better and saved me some energy. Can't wait till tomorrow morning when the crew sees I dug out the barrier. Boy, I hope they dump it for me.
Beer thirty! And tomorrow will be me tapping away at a computer. Phew. |
Got one of these when shoveling some dirt around. Really took the stress off the lower back.

Sorry Vash, I didn't know it was that much digging. I would have recommended that you rent a small elect. jack hammer with a spade bit to ease the digging. Beats the heck out of using a pick on the hard pack dirt. It will cut through roots too like if its butter with a hot knife. All yougotta do is shovel the dirt out. Saves your back. Sorry, next time.
