Capital Classic Cars buying lists of Porsche Owners

I received a called today from this business. The voicemail said, "Hi this is Steve from Capital Classic Cars, I'd like to talk to you about your Porsche."

Out of curiosity, I call back. He says he buys "lists" of Porsche owners and asks if I still have a car I sold 5 years ago. I ask where he buys his lists from. "Yellow Pages".

Me, well that's a bit creepy and it must be a crappy list because I sold that car in 2012. Goodbye.

Anybody else get these kinds of calls?

Nope. But I'm not surprised. Nothing is sacred these days.

I made a small one-time donation to some charity, then they add me to their mailing list and now I get solicitations from them. That's not the worse part.

I bet that they shared my name with OTHER charities and now I am getting mails from those other charities as well.

Not yet receiving those calls.

I just get the unsolicited offers to buy in parking lots and at stop signs. I'm sorry, did you see a 'for sale' sign???

Yeah, I got a call about a year ago...thought it was funny. He hung up when I asked if his nickname was "flipper". Hell, the P car gas been gone from here for over a decade.

Yeah, he searched for list brokers in the yellow pages.

Shops (and PCA regions) have been buying those list for decades, you can get em from the DMV.

I got a cold call a year or two ago from a man in Cali asking if I was interested in selling (non pcar). Very weird and intrusive.

I know a guy who bought a 67 Shelby GT500 from a 20 year old for sale ad.

At least that's better than his old calls: this is Steve, I got your name from XXXXX who said you might be interested in selling your car
