Well, we finally had a few decent nights around here and I managed to get the big Meade 14" scope working. Shot M27 last night. 1.4 hours of Ha, 1.4 hours of O3 and 1.35 hours of S2 combined.

Just spectacular.... thanks...

Reprocessed the M27 image. So many nuances in the processing software its crazy. Anyway, there was a lot more detail to be extracted.

I got some more data the other night on IC1396. This is 6 hours worth of exposures now. Looks like I over cooked the stars, they are kinda bloaty. Oh well, will do better next time.

Wow Eric, what amazing images you are coming up with.
I thought you had to be shooting from Hubble to get shots like those, thanks for sharing them. Cheers Richard |
Thanks Richard. It’s amazing what today’s technology allows us to do.

Adding the Luminance channel was the quantum step when I was doing imaging, while plate solving is the newest quantum step. |
I remember when this guy just had a bunch of pictures on his website along with information about the total exposure time, etc.... Unfortunately, due to his success, he's gone more commercial and I can't find that info any more. One of my favorites is his huge photo of Orion.
It's amazing that some of his images are collages from sessions over months and many, many hours worth of exposure. Rogelio Bernal Andreo, Premium Astrophotography - DeepSkyColors.com This isn't my favorite, but it's one that's very similar. I think the one that I prefer is called "Orion Head to Toe" or something like that. https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/image/150...ndreo_1080.jpg |

Stunning! |
The Astronomy hobby thread
Just a thought, has anyone offered their images up for sale or on a web site that if somebody purchase an image, it goes back to an account to help support/fund their hobby? These things would look fantastic on metal.
|
I'll be offering that in the future. I'm being picky about my stuff. Waiting until I think they are good enough to sell.
