which vacuum cleaner to get?

Hi guys,
My vacuum cleaner, yes I still using it, is dead. Time for a new one. Does anyone still using it and can recommend me a simple but reliable one?
Thanks.

I got this one, or something close to it. The reviews were spot on, and it was cheap. Does a good job, too.

Our local Costco has a Shark deal. I bought mine at Amazon. Seems to work fine. I still haven't been able to justify a Dyson. :)

This is what I have. It's a step up from a Dyson.

Brilliance Deluxe R30D

It literally sucked the white dog hair out of my black-upholstered minivan.

These vacuums are designed to be serviced and will last longer than any of us will with regular maintenance.

I'll second the Riccar. Except we just use a Supralite. It's only about $399 if I recall correctly. Its almost a joy to use and has incredible power. It is light enough that I used it on carpeted stairs. I used to be a Meile fan, but have switched to Riccar. Both are exceptional vacuums, but I actually enjoy using the Riccar. The Meile was just too cumbersome.

thanks guys.
From Costco, there are many Shark model, which one did you guys choose?
Dyson, I have looked at the cordless stick and didn't like it. I might be wrong but it looks/feels so plastic like toys. And the battery between charge is too short.

Simple, cheap, reiable would be the Shark.

I hate all of the above and use an Electrolux Aerus in the house and a Fein wet/ dry in the shop.

Sanitaire. They're used in hotels and institutions. Very simple. One belt and parts easy to find. I bought mine 12 years ago and it is sucking strong.

I got the one that was on sale. Works great. Dont forget to clean the filter under the collector, out of sight and will limit suction.

When we bought ours they had a special model for pet owners (we have three cats and our old vac was not cutting it).

The model that most resembles the one we got is 'Shark Rotator PowerLight Professional Upright Vacuum'. We have three small carpeted rooms and it is pack with fur when we vacuum and is bagless.

That stick model looks cool but more like and electric broom, doubt it would work as well as a full size vacuum.

Note when I say 'full size' our shark is very light and easy to lift.

I did and never again.

They all work pretty good until you get a kid to use them.

Then the bobby pins, ear plugs, nickles, dimes, cat toy strings, etc enter the system and eff it up. Stress overload on everything and your fat ass is on the floor with the phone flashlight and a pair of cheap pliers.

Go higher end unless your house is young adult free. Then they can be fixed.
