That is cool as heck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
It's the old man's last days at his place, he may be doing more than just splitting the wood.
Nice that you could let him have his day. Maybe he would go with you in quest of tember for other things. Sounds like there could be some worth while pieces to be had. Cheers Richard |
After nursing my wounds from Friday, I was about to unload the logs in the backyard....
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1506897452.JPG and then it hit me, why not take them to MY dad's house for their wood stove. He has advanced dementia and his wife cares for him. She and I have had our issues, and it was a was no small miracle she even let me on the property. As idyllic as the picture might look, there are significant hoarding issues and the place needs much care. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1506897531.JPG Hopefully this haul of wood will be a gesture of good will. I really want to be able to help out there, but I need to earn her trust. As for my FIL- as an 80 year old, he kicked my 47 year old ass just as I knew he would. I am still aching sore and could barely keep up with him. I did get the chance to impress him with my backing up skills, aiming the trailer like a champ!:D I'm hoping to get back to the mill with him next week assuming I recover from last friday! As for his last days at the mill, I wish I had a video of us driving across the yard. Acres of buildings, timber, sorters, etc, which he did all himself over his career. Amazing, and I could only guess what he is going through emotionally as he his selling his pride and joy. |
