Awesomeness in the light of adversity...
I had a pretty ratty week in the scheme of things. It got me thinking, what was YOUR line of awesomeness in the light of adversity?

Still doing my job, and training a new guy while I wait on my appointment to get my heart defibrillator/pace maker (current heart efficiency is 30%), and also while getting 4 chemotherapy treatments this month.
You never know what you have, until you don't have it anymore ! |

And of course great tits. They say that the biggest problem many young people face today is that they only want to do things that have significant personal meaning for them, and they want constant recognition and praise for everything they do. Well, is that life ? Good job by the way. Keep up the good work, it's worth it. ;) |
The one I live by... "The right thing to do is rarely the easy thing to do"

When my roommate died:
"Mr. Lee, your son, Yong, has died in a helicopter accident and I am here to help in any way." And so I did. |
I put all my kids through university on my dime, two to expensive graduate schools.
I lived close to the poverty line, worked three jobs, never took a holiday for years, borrowed money, and scraped by. No one knew. So 'Shut-up and do it' |
Maybe not exactly what you were looking for, but certainly inspirational.

Do your best at whatever it is you are doing, because you are the one doing it.

As handed down from an old wooden pallet maker to his daughter, one of my former girlfriends:
"Do what you can and let the rough side drag." (Meaning the rough side that is dragged will smooth out!) |
When I died my wife gave me CPR, it was her first time doing CPR.
She is awesome http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat1.gif |
In movies and TV shows they have the scene where the son is leaving home for good, and the dad gives advice to the son. I was about to get in my car and drive off 900 miles to my new life and my dad hugged me and said "Son, you will find that drinking Oklahoma grocery store beer is like making love in a canoe, it is fuc*ing near water" Oklahoma grocery store beer is 3.2% or less by law. That is finally going to change in a few months.
Dad had much wisdom, he had taught me well and he knew no one sentence phrase was really going to change my life. Dad taught me a work ethic, honesty, integrity, and to how to take care of myself. That can't be defined in a single sentence. |
