Agree.

Direct.

Unambiguous.

That's how it's done.

I knew what this thread was about before I even clicked on it :).

widgeon13 09-30-2017 05:01 AM

I suppose it would have been foolish to ask the cowards to come forward.

jhynesrockmtn 09-30-2017 05:24 AM

Agree totally. This is how you lead.

FWIW I heard the General say that based on the handwriting they believe it to be one coward.

kach22i 09-30-2017 06:16 AM

He did ask the perpetrator(s) to just leave, as there is no room for that sort of thing in this organization.

Not the same as asking them to step up, but a coward would refuse to step up and take responsibility anyway.

Why bother.

The Air Force Academy is one of the finest universities in the world and one of the hardest to get into. Even with such high standards there is always the opportunity for a fool to present themselves. Amazing.

This was not at the Academy it was at the Academy prep school. Big difference. look it up.

General Silveria gets my vote wish, we had this type leadership in Washington.

Por_sha911 09-30-2017 04:07 PM

That man is what makes America great!

serene911 09-30-2017 05:23 PM

The racial slur incident happened at the prep school, but I believe the General is
speaking to the academy students and staff of 4000 plus in the room.

Great speech, but at this time my hunch is that it's a hoax.

gsxrken 10-01-2017 08:26 AM

There's no datapoints that would suggest a hoax. Never underestimate the ignorance that people are handicapped with.

matthewb0051 10-01-2017 11:36 AM

Sounds like this one from 2013:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/QaqpoeVgr8U" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

daepp 10-02-2017 02:15 PM

No datapoints? WTH does that mean? I suggested no datapoints - merely that I had a hunch.

And while I'm happy that the speech was well received, it would have been appropriate 60 years ago. Today it borders on insulting to the AF corp today - beginning in the second half of the 20th Century the military has had a stellar record of incorporating and respecting all races.

Much more likely it was a speech he had to give.

UconnTim97 10-02-2017 03:30 PM

Very moving speech. Thanks for sharing.

bob deluke 10-02-2017 05:55 PM
