W460 G Wagon?

Anyone here own one? It seems like a fun automotive adventure to import one from Europe and play around with it.

My dad imported one back in the 80's. We still have it

They are awesome and highly capable off-road trucks. We also have a Defender 90. If you made me choose which to take into battle the G-wagon wins in a no contest, and I like the D90.

BUT they are not highway trucks. Ours is a diesel, and I think a VW bus vs the G-wagon in a drag race would be a close match. It is epically slow. We live in Colorado and driving up a paved mountain pass we'll be in 2nd or 3rd gear doing 30mph, with gas cars passing us at 65mph. You may have better luck in the lower altitude of Arizona. Driving it up from Phoenix to Flagstaff is a long slow process too, done that a few times. It can do it, it just takes a long time.

For cruising around town and off-road they are great, but anything that requires much time above 60 it's probably not the best. That said my Dad did daily drive the truck on the east coast for a long time.
