I wouldn't mind getting a Corrado or a Harlequin.

Shiny cars
Am I the only guy on this site who puts priority on the drive not the shine. My old e30 's are the latest in a long line of cheap BMW's that run hard on the highway. Our '71 2002 could beat the 5.0 Mustang and my e21 beat (some) Porches and (some) M3's because I was never afraid to get a scratch or push a bit harder on the turns.
It's all about the drive, iron is only the tool . tom |

Still want a cosworth escort RS but a C5 or C6 Z06 are more rational choices.

I owned a Gen 1 RX-7 for several years because I couldn't afford a 924. :(
Nice little car, as expected it is very basic. 100HP as I best remember. Fun to drive, just change the oil and filter often. Also owned a Gen 2. Much better car. 140 HP with some low end torque. But today, I would go with a Gen 1 because I simply like the way they look. |
If I stumble upon a nice RX7 GSL-SE with the 13b, I’ll be in trouble.
|
Ok, I had to look and did a quick national scan on Autotrader. 7 of them out there. Nothing that makes my blood pressure rise a bit.
|
Lots of junk out there, and the GSL-SE is super scarce. I’ve seen some GSL and GS models on Craigslist for $4k or so that are tempting. There have been a few nice ones on BaT recently.

Yes please, except I’ll take a nice set of Panasports on mine.

I doubt that, you can find a mint first generation RX7 for under $10k and parts are cheap. Throw on some wheels and suspension upgrades for another few grand and you’re right there.

You want affordable?
Go to autotrader, click on coupe, click on rear wheel drive, put in what you consider an "affordable price". See what comes up: https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=467779396&zip=90731 &referrer=%2Fcars-for-sale%2Fsearchresults.xhtml%3Fzip%3D90731%26startYe ar%3D1981%26sortBy%3DderivedpriceDESC%26maxPrice%3 D24000%26vehicleStyleCodes%3DCOUPE%26firstRecord%3 D0%26endYear%3D2018%26searchRadius%3D50%26driveGro up%3DRWD&startYear=1981&numRecords=25&maxPrice=240 00&vehicleStyleCodes=COUPE&firstRecord=0&endYear=2 018&searchRadius=50 and more Mustangs/Callengers/Cameros than you can shale a stick at. |
I like going on craiglist - choosing all cars and trucks and choosing manual transmission and scroll through - amazing what you see - both old and new
|
Great. Now I'm surfing the net looking for project cars.
