any design flaws with V6 Cayenne ?
 

I'm thinking of adding another vehicle to the fleet , relatively cheap with automatic so wife can drive . Utility of all wheel drive is nice for the few ice/snow incidents we sometimes get in Georgia . I am familiar with the V8 coolant pipes issues on the pepper wagon and not really fond of the starter placement under the intake manifold :confused:

Ultimate power/performance is not the goal decent fuel mileage , utility and safety are . I believe the V6 is a VW/Audi engine ? Any inherent design flaws with this engine ? Are there any " look for this " type of items ? Thanks in advance .

Subscribed, I'm looking too. I believe there are two versions of the V6. Maybe 2007 and newer?

It's slow and a VW engine, I would consider that a design flaw.:)

Absolutely love our 2013 V6 Cayenne. Moved to it from a 2011 Audi Q5 2.0 that we liked a lot.

The Cayenne is simply the best long distance cruiser we have owned. 25 MPG (at the pump) on the highway, comfortable beyond our expectations. Make sure you get the 14-way seats. Very adjustable, even for my 5'5" wife.

We bought CPO and have put 20k on it in the first 11 months. Zero issues. Just an oil change.

Highly recommend.

105k miles on my 2008 VW version and no engine issues. Only car issue has been a driveshaft bearing failure (apparently a known issue). We fairly regularly make 13 hour drives in it in comfort.

2010 V6, apart from a failed centre bearing of the driveshaft is has no mechanical issues. Interior build quality is a bit dissappointing comparing to same vintage X5 (rattles and squeekes).

Touareg? Friend has one, says the same... has 122k on it.

Yes a Touareg. I recommend the chassis/engine combo based on my experience. The price point wasn't bad on them either . We bought a 2008 in 2012 with 30k miles for very low $20k. We bought a second one a 2012 in 2016 with 30k miles for about $25k. Both have been reliable, comfortable, and nice driving cars.

Biggest design flaw is that it could have had a big, turbocharged V8 and bigger brakes.

Can you do better? Absolutely (e.g. V8, Turbo, Bentayga, etc...)

But if we're speaking specifically V6 Cayenne: I love my 2010. I've had no issues in three years of ownership.

We have a 2007 VW Touareg (same 3.6l V6 though) with 150k and still going strong.

I had a 2013 V6 Cayenne and loved it. Never felt underpowered to me - in sport mode and with a transparent 8 speed transmission it scooted down the freeway just fine. I looked at the same generation Touareg and the Cayenne was much better appointed. Materials, fit, finish, switchgear, displays, etc. Chassis was amazing, you never felt the bulk of the car. Was the best car I've owned.
