I saw that. It's a cool idea. Not sure if I like it yet...

They did that with a GERMAN STEEL 356, when there are so many fiberglass bodies around? Why?

My 2 cents:
1.No doubt.....as Porsche cars evolved....certain engineering aspects were refined. Refinement doesn't always equate to improvement though. Certain things like air conditioning are a no brainer, but arguments could be made about other aspects. Newer doesn't always mean better, in other words. 2. The argument that they saved a 356 is a good one - but they could have just restored it to original specs as well, but didn't. 3. It's perfectly OK for someone to like this car better than an original version. But it isn't, nor will ever feel like the original. And to some, that's a negative. For me....this car would fall into the "3356 Outlaw" category. Again - nothing wrong with that!

After all that time, effort & money and they got the profile wrong? It looks like a hunch back! And the top looks like crap. Not to mention the front wind screen but no doubt some idiot will buy it.
What a waste...

Hey I like the Dusie....
Ehhh nice concept, but why a Cayman...why not an Air cooled 911 motor and 5 spd, ...and more old school interior? AC is ok in S CA., sound system yeah... The old P cars are just cruisers now anyway. Nostalgia

Wow, did not imagine I would ever find a 356 unattractive.

Because you want to make the statement that you can afford to build it out of a real one.

... and it's an automatic!
![]() I don't mind the body widening so much but I just can't get past that hunch back! What made them think that was a good idea?

I'll make a guess on who the original owner who didn't like it was/is...a comedian, and not Jay who didn't make an offer.

Interesting. The owner wanter modern reliability in a 356. I would be doubtful the result is as reliable as a factory car. So many mods and tweaks. For example, Id love to see how the serpentine belt gets changed now. But then, the owner will probably never deal with that.

I saw it on my news feed a coupla days ago. Definitely an ambitious project. At the end of the day, I get that WCC is trying to fulfill a customer request/order: "put the 356 body on the Cayman chassis with Cayman running gear...and here are the two cars for you to use". Certainly not my cup-o-Joe, as that much spent (can only imagine) would have built a very serious 356 Outlaw (in a more traditional sense)!!! But I wasn't the customer....so different strokes. As others have pointed out, I just can't get past the rear proportions.
Doesn't sound like the "customer" really got to enjoy it, before wanting to sell.
