I'll help you out. Abstemious and facetious...two (and the only two) words in English that use all of the vowels in there proper order. I suppose you can add an 'ly' to them for added points!

And I thought I was the king of the arcane and inanity, but boy was I foolish to have thought that.

My Dad's Dad was a crossword nut and I was following him play when I was 12.

He nailed "tepid" for lukewarm water. Sent him to God status in my book.

At 12, what the hell is a tepid?:D

I had this double triple bingo once, uncurbed, played off the r; the d and the u are on triple word squares.

Congratulations! There is an element of chance to scrabble, but you have to have chops to beat the box. Anything that makes you think is good for the mind. They say crossword puzzlers are less likely to develop Alzheimer's. Backgammon and chess against the computer, and logic puzzles are my games of choice.

I enjoy playing with my kids, spelling fart never gets old.:)

Do any of you guys play Words with Friends? I always have a few games of that going with various people.

Yep, it’s hugely addictive. I usually have a dozen or so games going and they make for good occasional five-minute breaks throughout the day. Had two 100+ point words yesterday and dropped a seven-tile 63 point bomb a few minutes ago. ;)

At 99 my grandmother regularly dismantles all 3 generations of descendants at Scrabble. It's humbling to watch (and participate).

I've no understanding of any backstory to this thread - but WWF needs a different strategery. I'll stick with scrabble...

And, yes scrabble's on my phone and ipad as the number one time-waster at hand. I'd love a disconnected version - that I don't need LTE/xG/whatever to make work.

Played last night. i did not know "aa" was a word - some kind of lava.

I had 2 "o"s in the rack and an open "o" on the board. I told them if "aa" is a word "ooo" was a word too, look it up. I googled it for them on my phone. "Ooo - a flightless bird of sub-arctic North America, sometimes known as the "Fireworks bird" because its mating call is the sound people make when watching fireworks, ie "Ooo."
I actually had them convinced. :D

Routinely get over 400 on words with friends. Does anyone know how to translate that to scrabble like Celsius to Fahrenheit?

My favorite word is... Boobwasie - a large group of boobs (idiots) originally used to describe a political gathering. ROTFL

Mencken used it every other page. But he spelled it booboisie.

Played dirty word scrabble in college. "Wetlipjob" one of my favorites.

I did as well, HS and college...fun stuff!
