Get by with a little help from my friends...
As a bus owner, while not a splitty, this brings a smile to my face. |

I saw that ad earlier today and thought, only VW could have an ad that shows their cars from 50 years ago and no new cars.

I've got a '64 Splitty and liked the TV ad until I saw what it was for.
What a load of crap! I just got rid of my wife's 2016 VW Sportwagen three weeks ago. Four weeks ago we drove the Sportwagen over to LA (for a VW Bus show) and had a total dead battery. No warning whatsoever. DEAD. Sunday morning. Called AAA and jump it but meter showed that it was not holding a charge. Got to a O'Reilly auto parts store and bought a new battery. That night got in the car to drive home back to Palm Desert......DEAD. Monday morning called VW roadside service and got towed to the nearest VW dealer and they found all fuses including a "master fuse" had blown. Then informed me that since I replaced the original battery with a NON VW battery I had voided the warranty!!!!! We are talking about a 2016 with 14,000 miles. We are the original owners. I told them it was Sunday morning and no VW dealer service dept is open on Sunday so where was I supposed to but a VW battery???? Bill was $1500 plus $200 for the non VW battery so I filed a claim with VW and was quickly denied. I was so pissed with the treatment and the attitude of the service manager I didn't want to drive the car another mile. F 'em. So I still love my Splitty but won't set foot in another VW dealer. Ever.

Back in the day I had a '64 camper, a '67 bus, & then a '70 camper. I found the best thing they were good for were afternoon delights.

I had one that was already old by the time I had it in the seventies. I thought so little of it other than it being a good place to kiss girls that I didn't even take a photo of it

Just like physical parts, why can't we order customer service reps from 1964?
