Imagine the leveraged force of a 300lb person on the end of the door using it as a crutch to lift or lower themselves. I think it is the nature of the ride height, and not a bad body design. I've got 60K on the clock on my C5, no door sag. |

On the freeway at 60mph hit the gas. What happens next is the exhaust opens up and the engine starts making twice the DB while the torque converter was still slipping. So it got real noisy and then a few seconds later it started to accelerate. The C5 and C6 with throttle by wire seems to dull the throttle response. Still happy with the styling and sports car performance of my stock c5Z. Its like a my old 240Z on steroids. |

That sounds disappointing. I have never driven a GS, but the LS3 had me smiling all the way to 110 or so in the base C6 I drove. |

C7 eight speed felt fantastic.
My rental had problem in that when I went 100% braking force, the G-force would pull the shift lever forwards, so from manual mode to drive, or from drive to neutral. Hard acceleration would also move the shift lever the other way, from drive to manual mode. This could result in you looking silly with it bouncing off the rev limiter when you expected it to shift in drive. It may have been specific to that car, dunno. It was probably a part of not falling in love, that and all the electronic connectivity the car had. The C5 is a car to get if you want a manual. As an auto, no paddle shift. If you want an auto, go for C6 or C7. |

Floored the gas and it took too long to drop into passing gear and move. Although the stock auto trans was slushy it was double irritating that the exhaust baffles opened immediately but the car did not react. I hear the 8 speed is better still its no DCT. I prefer my vette with a stick shift. The SCCA racers are allowed to reprogram the ECU for better throttle response. Although a modded ECU would most likely would fail a smog test. If you want big power try a C6Z. :) |
Just found out my brother is selling his 02. She's a beauty with only 10,600 miles. Send me a PM if you want his contact info.

Fun.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/an51Do20X-Q" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> If the market does not go up, I will likely add a C5 hatchback in a few years. I have now where to go this after noon, but its likely to get fired up and driven anyway. |
Thanks for posting that video. That grand sport looks so good. The NPP exhaust option on it sounds amazing. It was funny to hear him say it was 70K. I see them in the high 20's and with the C8 coming they should be moving down more. I'm not sure the C6 GS is worth 10K more than the base C6 though. The C5 just does not do it for me, although it sounded good too
