Have had a color laser, printer/copier/scanner/fax for years. I like it because I don't print very often so do not have ink issues.

However, if I wete printing pics for a photo album, would get a nice photo quality ink jet and also make sure I use a good glossy paper for ink jets. Would end up with a much better looking photo.

or

Do like one of my nieces. She uses Apple Photo arranges and annotates the photos then uploads the file and gets back a hard bound, high quality printed photo album I think it's cool becaue the quality is super and if you take the time all the photos have captions.

Have you run into this problem as my wife liked the idea of the eco tanks.

Scott,

I never heard that, I leave the printer unplugged all the time unless I need it- weeks at a time. I try and remember to print something every week or so to keep it fresh, but routinely forget and it will go over a month. Which reminds me I should print something tonight.

I've had mine for over a year now, can't remember when I bought it.

Use toner/laser instead.
I will never return to ink, I HEATED the ink-clogging.
Buy a Samsung printer, mostly it is cheaper to buy a new printer then buying a set of toner.

For photos we bought our daughter a Canon Selphy that makes really good prints instantly. The system is very good, you change the cartridge way before any clogging can happen.
But we also have a few shops in our neigbourhood where you can print photos directly of the phone (wifi) or an SD-card/USB-stick for a few cents.

Brother lasers for B&W, Dell for Color. Cheapest replacement toners (at time of purchase)

I look at replacement toner costs when shopping printer. Thrown too many printers away when toner/ink ran out.

+1
After spending a fortune on toner I finally threw out the Photosmart POS and bought a Samsung black-only printer. When I want something printed in color I take an SD card to the local drug store and have them print it.

Good luck.

I used to be of this opinion, but I'm starting to waver. I recently got a new HP PageWide multifunction. It's an inkjet with an 8.5" wide nozzle. It prints with outstanding quality, much faster than a comparably priced laser. Research suggests the consumables should be cheaper, but I haven't had to re-fill it yet.
