I have to admit, Shaun is blindly loyal to Tesla as much as I love the Bruins.

So if electric is the answer to the world's transportation then lets ask some questions:
-how many drivers have a garage to install a charger?
-what do folks who park in the street do or do you expect the town to install chargers and give away a lot of free electricity?

Electric is not a solution for the majority of drivers. Just the high income folks who forget that everyone has the private garage to park and charge.

This is liberal logic.

I'm not saying that at all. We are all free to complain about absolutely anything at all. It's what we choose to complain about, or not, that can be pretty telling.

My real point was that many are incapable of discerning for themselves what they should or should not be complaining about. They let whichever "side" of our deeply divided political landscape that they happen to fall on make those decisions for them. They don't have to understand the issue at all - all they have to know is which side their party of choice has taken. Good enough for them...

Por_sha911 11-04-2017 01:56 PM

So, what you are saying is the F35 was just another type of "Musk Scam"

Jeff, WHY even bring up the F35? The only possible logic would be deflection (which is not a valid defense).

Are you a ****ing moron or something? Serious question.

Por_sha911 11-04-2017 03:57 PM

Shaun, I have no idea why the tirade of anger unless you find dogmatic loyalty (or the Bruins) that offensive. I don't doubt your sincerity. I just think you are sincerely wrong. Rather than start slinging insults, lets stick to the topic. Please answer:

So if electric is the answer to the world's transportation then lets ask some questions:
-how many drivers have a garage to install a charger?
-what do folks who park in the street do or do you expect the town to install chargers and give away a lot of free electricity?

First question you should ask is where you got the idea that electric is the answer to the world's transportation problems.

I have respect for what Tesla/Musk have accomplished but the fat lady just may be about to sing.

He could always take his tech to China.

You don't need a garage, you just need a 110 or 240 outlet to plug the EVSE into. The cars come with an EVSE that goes between the power supply and the car. The charger is part of the car.

They have a lot of ingenious ways to plug the car in and keep vandals from sabotaging their settup. You should read some EV message boards.

You've obviously never lived in a major metro area like NYC

Nope. I just read on the EV forums about how those who do live in cities solve the problems of vandalism and theft.

Although theft is an issue, the greater concern is when multiple people live in a brownstone or apartment building and park on the street. You can't just setup a power station or run an extension cord...

This is worth a look. Not the typical review.

Doug goes into the details and quirks of each car he reviews. I really like how your smart phone controls the car!

^uhmm.... ^ 32 min's of gushing like a school boy ?

The M3 is the coolest car because so many bought it sight unseen, years ago?

Your cell phone dies and you can't get into your car?

sc_rufctr 11-10-2017 11:24 PM

I'm the first to admit Doug can be a bit over the top but he reviews some amazing cars.

(And if your cell phone dies you can use a Tesla credit card to unlock and start the car)

I guess those people are stuck with burning gas or taking the bus.

Por_sha911 11-11-2017 05:17 AM

No they aren't "stuck". It is the best option. Unfortunately, some folks have a man-crush for Elon Musk and think that the taxpayers should pour billions into a private business to develop a car that has extremely limited potential for the great majority of the average public.
If you want to fund research, pay the universities and scientists rather than fund the Musk Scheme.

Yes. "Stuck."
Take your "man crush" comments to PARF. Your insults and crappy attitude have no place in an adult conversation.

His Chinese sales are a big fat zero. They quit subsidizing his cars.

BTW he's now built a grand total of 260 Model 3s. But he said he'll be making 20,000 per month by the end of the year.
