West Texas has top-notch quail hunting (both bobwhite and blues).

I spent several months in Lubbock a few years back and I don't recall anything worth mentioning there. There is the Buddy Holly museum, but I was too apathetic about him to even check that out. The food sucked. I don't recall there being that much scenery, in spite of it being a major college town. I would stay far away from the football stadium, on any given Saturday.

You could take a trip up north to Palo Duro Canyon

Anyone can love the mountains. Takes a true soul to love the llano estacado. High lonesome prairies...

Stay out of Walmart on Friday or Saturday night unless you are packing.

vash 11-03-2017 10:23 AM

I lived there for a little over a year (moved for a job). I hated it, couldn’t leave fast enough. Nice people but no other redeeming qualities.

Keep driving.

As for the custom made boots: San Antonio or El Paso

Eric 951 11-03-2017 10:32 AM
