I can't help you... Love the Pontiac badge (damn GM for killing it) 64 GTO was my ride in HS.

Go kick the tires and take it for a test drive...what's the worst that can happen?

You own another cool vintage ride...

No, I won't talk you out of looking...
sure, the color isn't great, and it looks like it needs plenty o' work, and too bad it doesn't have the 8 lug wheels, but it's a hardtop Catalina, and it looks like it would be a hoot and a half to cruise that around on summer nights.....
Do it!!

I like the 61-62 Pontiac's, especially the Catalina. Do your homework and go look.

Something isn't right. On the web site the asking price on both cars are higher than on Craig's list.

I like the car but it looks a lot like a scam. Specifically the part about selling his storage building. Just seems stupid. i hope I am wrong because that could be a deal.

One of my dream cars when I was in high school was a '62 Pontiac Grand Prix. Essentially that car with bucket seats.

if you can go see the car in person its not a scam, if they "have it storage and it is ready to be shipped" it is a scam.

if its in a different state I always tell them I haul cars for a living and will be out there in a few days and can do the deal in person........chirp chirp chirp from the crickets is all I ever hear back

It's a base model Catalina and a big, heavy car. That one has the base 2-bbl 389 and smooooth Hydramatic transmission.

Raced one that same color on the runways at Caddo Mills, TX in 1963 in one of the few drag-racing efforts I worked with (Hine Pontiac/Monk King sponsored the car).

Never forget lining the Pontiac up against five other cars at the same time and the flagman looking for the safest place to stand to flag us off.

Caddo Mills was the first NHRA-sanctioned dragstrip east of California. The cast of characters was amazing - Bobby Langley and his "Scorpion" rail, Oklahoma City's Marion Owens and his twin-engine Harley motorcycles, Kansas Badman, "Hands" who was so big you could pass a half dollar through his ring and some of the best pit fights I ever saw.

those cars are the more common versions
the cat 2+2 with the 8 lugs had the better motor + other goodies
and is like a 67 911S in collector values
think tempest value not even a GTO for sure not a tri-power GTO value

I'm not looking for another collector car. I have enough prima donnas on my insurance policy. I want something fun to drive.
But I'm not going to pursue this. It sounds fishy, plus Mrs WD wants to get out of here and is looking at houses. I already have a lot on my plate - things just aren't lining up for this.

So many better looking Pontiacs and in better colors if you ask me. A non-scam one would be nice, too.

THe photos w the sticker on the windshield were taken in an auction yard, probably CoPart, which sells insurance loss cars. Just look in the BG, the Lamborghini next to it w the same sticker, etc.

That doesn't necessarily mean that anything is wrong w it, they sometimes get cars for other reasons but it's mostly collision or flood cars. I posted pics on this board of the inside of the CoPart lot in L.A. after hurricane Sandy, there were so many loss cars that they were shipping them all over the country to various auctions. Lots of nice cars but the all got wet.

At any rate, it's some dealer auction. Maybe not an insurance auction. It's a great looking car but not the one I'd buy. I love Pontiacs but Grand Prix cars of that era are readily available for the same price. It sounds like the seller has a movie car business, not a collection per se. Just a lot of cars.

Assuming the car is in the condition as represented, there's not much value in it. Unless, of course that particular model means something to you personally.

I could research actual market value if you want to PM me.
